In their words...
"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society
but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened
enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the
remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion
by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of
constitutional power."
-Thomas Jefferson
"Real education must ultimately be limited to men who insist on knowing, the rest is mere sheep-herding."
- Ezra Pound
"If a man neglects education, he walks lame to the end of his life"
- Plato
Feeding Innovation in Higher Education
America's community colleges now face unprecedented challenges. Student enrollment is escalating during continued budget cuts, limited facilities and rising technology costs. Delivering to the mandate of doing more with less often means innovative programs are dropped or die a premature death. Innovation takes time and increasingly information. Many of these needs have evolved faster than college IT systems can respond and with their full plates it means they just can't be provided.
That's where Hekademia comes into the picture. We are experienced technologists who love to build simple web applications to empower innovation. Unlike many of our peers, we believe the best support comes from the engineer who designed and built it. We don't outsource anything and if we don't have the expertise to help you we'll help you find someone that can.
Did you have an idea for a great innovation in your classroom or department while on holiday break? We can help you quickly prototype a web application that you can use in your classroom in weeks and at a price you can expense. Use it, learn what works and doesn't and pay for changes when you need them. We'll stay with you as your innovation grows, providing scale and support.
At Hekademia Consulting our goal is to significantly contribute to the improvement of higher education in America. If you are an innovator we'd like to help you with your information technology needs.
What's in a name?
Hekademia is the archaic name for the site of Plato's Academy, the philosophical institution from which Academics began. Hekademia was not a school but rather a public park and grove of olive trees. A beautiful place where Plato and his students met.
At Hekademia Consulting, LLC we want to help academics build electronic versions of these groves. Beautiful places where teacher and students meet to teach and learn.
